The entire 2023 conference takes place at American University’s Airlie Center, a spectacular property set on more than 300 acres in Warrenton, VA. Nestled into 300 rolling acres in Northern Virginia's idyllic countryside, Airlie is home to the historic Airlie House and a village of guest rooms and meeting facilities.
For more than half a century, Airlie has welcomed global leaders, heads of state, and diplomats who have convened there for conferences and programs dedicated to social progress, education, environmental research, and public health. Most notable among the myriad ideas to emerge from Airlie was the concept of Earth Day in 1969, which now has become an annual international tradition.
Given as a gift by the Airlie Foundation in 2016, American University was entrusted with the stewardship of this special property. The university’s long-term goal is to carry on Airlie’s legacy and use the facility to its maximum advantage for AU’s academic and sustainability initiatives.
Northern Virginia is renowned as an equestrian destination, prestigious winemaking region and rich historic site, all nestled into the beautiful countryside just 35 miles outside the Beltway. In addition to a variety of resort activities and amenities, guests can explore nearby Old Town Warrenton and, of course, take advantage of all the culture and history that nearby Washington, DC offers.
Attendees will be housed on-site at Airlie for the duration of the CUWFA conference. The discounted room rate per night is $220+ tax (includes a $15 amenities fee) and is available for the night of June 19 through June 22.
